My Approach

Whether you’ve identified an area of life you’re ready to transform or you’re just curious about ways to feel your best, counseling can help. I assist clients as they develop insight about their personal narratives and bring their lives into alignment with their most deeply held values and aspirations. It’s easy to internalize beliefs, ideas, and voices that are not our own, and I enjoy helping clients discover their true voices and learn how to let go of ideas and actions that no longer serve them.

My approach to counseling focuses on building a strong alliance with each client and incorporating evidence-based practices into our work, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), somatic and attachment-focused eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (SAFE EMDR), and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR). I also incorporate personality theory and environmental analysis, which allows clients to discover their inner strengths and overcome hidden challenges that might be holding them back.

During the pandemic, I began offering remote services. I was very impressed with the improvements in accessibility and comfort of receiving healthcare that telehealth offers. If you’ve got a busy schedule and can’t make it across town for appointments or just enjoy receiving care from the comfort of your couch, you might be a great fit for telehealth. I continue to offer counseling exclusively via secure telehealth and look forward to meeting you soon!

Getting Started

I know that reaching out for help can be daunting, and you should be proud of yourself for putting your health and wellness first. Below are some simple steps to guide you through the logistics of beginning therapy.

  • To set up your first appointment, please please call or email me. I’ll respond with my upcoming availability.

  • Once your appointment is scheduled, I will send you a personal link to our secure video session and digital forms to review and sign.

  • During your initial session, we will discuss your goals, background, and reasons for seeking change. I will work with you to find the right style, frequency, and duration of counseling to best reach your goals.

  • We will develop a collaborative treatment plan, which captures your top priorities for counseling and the tools and practices we will utilize in our work together. We will continually discuss your progress to make sure you are reaching your goals.

  • Sessions are typically held either weekly or bi-monthly. I also offer evening and weekend sessions.

  • Sessions are 50-minutes in length, but longer appointments are available for booking as-needed.

  • I accept self-pay and offer a sliding scale for financial need. I do not bill insurance directly, but I can provide you with paperwork to submit to your insurance company to request reimbursement. Please call your carrier ahead of time to ask about your out-of-network benefits. Be advised that insurance companies require a current mental health diagnosis, which appears on your insurance paperwork.
